Tax Tip of the Week
For the week of

The IRS has rejected 40,000 tax returns
Due to a computer processing error, the IRS e-file
system has improperly rejected most individual returns that claimed a child care credit or reported dependent care
benefits from an employer.
The IRS thought they had the problem fixed at the end of January, but the system continued to reject some tax returns
with more than one Form W-2. All of the affected returns had Error Reject Code 090 in the rejection
notice.
The IRS has rejected about 40,000 e-filed tax returns because of these problems. It is not known how many of
these returns were repeatedly re-transmitted and rejected again.
The IRS hopes the problem has been fixed. If you receive a reject with code 090, try resubmitting your return.
