(Cherry Hill, NJ) Alloy, Silverstein, Shapiro, Adams, Mulford, Cicalese, Wilson & Co., the 22nd largest accounting firm with offices in the Philadelphia area, will make a life-saving fashion statement on Friday, February 3, 2012 to help the American Heart Association turn New Jersey red and bring attention to the No. 1 killer of New Jersey and American females – heart disease. Employees at Alloy Silverstein are joining accounting firms across the nation by wearing something red to “go red” for the Ninth Annual National Wear Red Day for Women.
In 2011, Alloy Silverstein received recognition from the American Heart Association for being a top 50 national corporate participant, the third largest contributor in the state of New Jersey, the number one team in South Jersey, and the state’s top contributing accounting firm. This year, the firm has a goal closer to home – to involve family. Employees invited their children to “go red” for 2012, and their red spirit is prominently featured in the firm’s annual employee photo.
“Heart disease is personal, so this year we involved our families in the initiative,” says Managing Shareholder Ren Cicalese. “As a Wear Red Day leader in South Jersey, we are leading by example for our children, showing them our support and passion firsthand. They in turn learn of the importance of heart health at an early age and can aid in spreading the message.”
According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease, such as heart disease and stroke, is the number one health threat facing women today, claiming the lives of nearly 422,000 women annually–more female lives than from the next four causes of death combined. Funds raised through the Go Red For Women® movement benefit research, education, and programs to help reduce the incidence of heart disease and stroke in women. By participating in National Wear Red Day for Women, Alloy Silverstein employees are helping to heighten awareness and bring forth positive change to defeat this major health threat of women.
National Wear Red Day for Women is an official activity of the American Heart Association Go Red For Women® movement, a national initiative to make women aware of their risk for heart disease and stroke, and to take action to reduce that risk.
