After receiving his degree from Temple University, Mr. Shapiro earned certification in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is currently a member of the American Institute of CPAs, New Jersey Society of CPAs, and Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs. Mr. Shapiro is the firm's personal financial specialist and has earned certification as a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), a prestigious and exclusive distinction shared by approximately 5,000 CPAs nationwide. Mr. Shapiro has extensive experience handling the particular interests of professional athletes, physicians, dentists, attorneys, and other professionals. He has lectured before the American Society of Appraisers and others on real estate investment and the tax implications thereof. Mr. Shapiro has also been a frequent guest professor at Rutgers University, teaching courses such as Advanced Accounting and Mergers and Acquisitions. In addition to his financial work with individuals and corporations, Mr. Shapiro has also worked with financial institutions and is presently a member of the Board of Directors of SLM Corporation (SALLIE MAE) which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Shapiro is Vice Chairman of the Nominating Committee and serves as the Director Representative to the Sallie Mae PAC. He also has been Chairman of the Operating Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee and has served on the Executive Committee and Compensation Committee of Sallie Mae. Mr. Shapiro also serves on the Board of Directors of MetLife Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Mr. Shapiro also serves as Chairman of the Trust Committee and the Audit Committee of Metlife Bank. He has also served on the board of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) and was appointed Treasurer of that board. He has also served as a director on the Boards of The Bank, Carnegie Bank, N.A., First Peoples Bank of New Jersey, Fidelity Bank of New Jersey, Howard Federal Savings and Loan Association, and Jefferson Bank of New Jersey, serving as Vice Chairman of that Board. Mr. Shapiro is a member of the Executive Advisory Council of Rutgers University and is a Federal Key Person of the American Institute of CPAs. He also serves on the board of the Virtua Hospital Foundation. Mr. Shapiro has served on the Cherry Hill Finance Advisory Board, the New Jersey State Legal Professional Liaison Committee, the New Jersey State Board for Professional Development of CPAs, the New Jersey State Board for Cooperation Between CPAs and the Internal Revenue Service, and the Pennsylvania State Board for Management Consulting Services. |
