LOCAL CPA EARNS PERSONAL FINANCIAL SPECIALIST DESIGNATION

Alloy, Silverstein, Shapiro, Adams, Mulford & Co., Cherry Hill, NJ, the 20th largest accounting firm with offices in the Philadelphia area, is pleased to announce that Michael S. Kehoe, CPA, a Marlton, NJ resident and 1986 graduate of Drexel University, has been awarded the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Mr. Kehoe met six requirements to earn the designation, including passing a technical exam covering the five functional areas of personal financial planning: personal income tax planning, risk management and insurance planning, investment planning, retirement planning and estate planning. He has also completed 250 hours of experience per year for three years. In addition to his PFS designation, Mr. Kehoe also holds a Masters of Science in Taxation, which he earned from Temple University in 1998. All PFS candidates must also hold a valid CPA certificate and be an AICPA member in good standing.

"Given their formal education and technical training in the areas of accountancy, taxation and general business, CPAs are the most qualified, knowledgeable and objective financial planning professionals," says Laurence Foster, chairman of the AICPA's Personal Financial Credential & Exam committee of the Personal Financial Planning Division and himself a PFS. "Supplementing this background with the PFS designation demonstrates a CPA's commitment to providing consumers the highest level of financial planning services."

CPAs who have earned the PFS designation must be re-accredited every three years to maintain the credential.

The PFS program is administered by the PFP Division, which was formed in 1986 to assist CPAs in the growing practice of personal financial planning. With more than 8,000 members, the PFP division provides members with the information and support necessary to maintain professional competence and experience in the area of personal financial planning.

The AICPA is the national professional association of CPAs with more than 330,000 members in public practice, industry, government and education.

Alloy, Silverstein, Shapiro, Adams, Mulford, & Co. provides a wide range of services including accounting, auditing, tax, management consulting, financial and estate planning, business valuations, litigation support, ElderCare, payroll processing, and information technology consulting.
